Pause to Heal

It seems to me, the only time it’s “acceptable” in our culture to actually take time for deep contemplation and spiritual healing is if we’re sick, we’ve had a traumatic life event or if we've had some type of accident or surgery. And why is this?

Our society perceives “being busy” as a sign of social success and this leaves very little time or space for introspection.

Yet social success does not guarantee mastery of our true life purpose.

As our soul is evolving during this life on Earth, how can we consciously “pause to heal” without creating trauma, guilt, shame or fear?

If we are constantly giving our energy to external distractions that prioritize our time and energy, when is there time for silence and tending to our own spiritual needs? These are needs of our heart and the soul which have eternal value.

How can we listen to the wisdom our heart has to offer if we are too busy to sit in silence?

Trust me, I get it. There was a time in my life when I barely had time to grab a meal and eat. I thought that being stressed all the time was how adults lived life in our modern world. And as I slowly began to reprioritize what was important to me, space opened up for me to have more silence and listen to my heart.

I would pause to sit in nature and contemplate beauty. This was a great way for me to quiet my mind.

When the mind slows down, the heart has space to speak.

If you desire to prioritize healing - whether it's your emotional, mental or physical body - perhaps you can begin by committing to a spiritual practice of silence and gratitude.

Choosing a heart-centered approach to life can be as simple as how you begin and end the day. Just start with 5-10 minutes in the morning before getting out of bed and close the eyes, connect to the pillar of source light, feel the resonance with the sacred heart and set an intention for the day. And then add 5-10 minutes at night to review your day and express gratitude for everything in it.

Little by little, your heart will love this connection so much, that you will desire to increase this time in silence to connect with your true self. Leading your life from a heart-centered approach will allow you to become comfortable with giving yourself space for reflection. And as you do so, you'll naturally want to expand your spiritual practices to include guided meditations, prayers, decrees and mantras.

Once we make centering on the heart a priority at the beginning and ending of our day, how taking the next step and set an alarm on your phone to pause for moments of hear-centered love for your self throughout the day. It only takes a moment to close the eyes, take a few heart-centered breaths and drop inside your heart.

What if you gave yourself 5 minutes in the car after you arrived at a destination to practice the Sacred Breath? You could also repeat a mantra to focus your mind before you get out, instead of distracting yourself by scrolling through your phone.

Why is it so difficult to consistently offer this time to ourselves to pause and re-center in the heart?

It's really such a simple gift. With presence and the intention to make this a priority, it is possible to incorporate these short practices throughout our day.

As Heart-Centered Leaders of the New Earth, our calling is, as Gandhi said, to "be the change we want to see in the world". Let’s start to lead by example and prioritize this purpose of intentionally pausing to connect with our heart throughout the day. And then maybe stretch this heart-centered pause for 30 minutes a day, or go on a retreat for an entire weekend, a week, a month, (or dare I say) 3 months, a year or more…

I can imagine a world where heart-centered leadership becomes the “norm”. Wouldn’t it be beautiful if humans encouraged each other to “pause to heal” and that automated “out of office” email replies said “I’m currently giving myself the greatest gift of love. I Am pausing to heal. I look forward to returning fully connected to the desire of my heart and in alignment with my pure divine essence!”

Are you willing to give yourself the gift of pausing to heal?
